Introduction

Cyber threats are an ever-growing concern for businesses, charities, and professionals across the UK. Recognising the need for stronger cybersecurity, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) launched a Funded Cyber Essentials Programme to help organisations enhance their cyber resilience.

This government-backed initiative provides funded expert support to eligible organisations, offering 20 hours of consultancy from an NCSC-certified Cyber Advisor to help implement Cyber Essentials technical controls.

Eligible organisations, including organisations working with artificial intelligence in certain sectors, quantum technologies, synthetic biology, practicing barristers (or advocates), and many more, should take advantage of this free cyber security support and consultancy service offering.

Contact us for more information on this – we’re offering support for the whole process.

What is the Funded Cyber Essentials Programme?

The Funded Cyber Essentials Programme is designed to support small and medium-sized organisations that may lack the in-house expertise to improve their cyber security.

By enrolling in the programme, organisations receive:

  • 20 hours of consultancy from an NCSC-accredited Cyber Advisor
  • Assistance in implementing Cyber Essentials security controls
  • Guidance on achieving Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification (though not mandatory)

The goal is to help organisations protect themselves from common cyber threats, such as phishing, ransomware, and unauthorised access.

Who Qualifies for the Programme?

The eligibility criteria has recently changed, expanding access to more organisations. Full details relating to qualifying organisations are listed on the NCSC and IASME websites. Importantly organisations must be a UK micro or small business (1 to 49 employees) and must not have previously participated in the NCSC Funded Cyber Essentials Programme. Additionally, organisations must not hold Cyber Essentials Plus certification and must not be in the process of applying for Cyber Essentials Plus.

To benefit from the programme, organisations must apply and be approved before the funding ends, so time is of the essence and organisations are encouraged to apply now or contact us for the support!
